Physiotherapy and Bike Fitting

Updated: Feb 10, 2022

Why would you choose to have a bike fit with a physiotherapist as opposed to a bike fitter with no in-depth experience in how your body works?

Well maybe the bike fitter will have impressive motion capture software to help fit you to the bike and with a basic assessment of your muscle length and strength that works for you.

But what if for example your knee, back or wrist pain needs a more detailed assessment that only an experienced physiotherapist like myself can offer. An assessment that will rule out any instability or what we call red flags and then necessary onward referral to your GP.

Ok fine no instability and thank god no red flags but you still have pain and discomfort that hasn't been resolved with a detailed bike fit. What would I offer you that a non physio bike fitter doesn't have the experience to?

Well if its not about the bike then perhaps the source of your pain is about you. So I would then offer a comprehensive and tailored exercise programme which would help resolve your symptoms whilst at the same time making you more flexible and stronger.

I would also look at other aggravating factors including your occupation or other sporting activities that may or may not be contributing to your symptoms.

When choosing your next bike fit do remember you will get free follow ups via email or for a minimal cost a face to face session to fine tune your treatment plan.

If you have any questions about the bike fit service I offer, including the physio assessment and treatment then please do drop me a line via the contact.
